ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effect of work intensive training on workers with musculoskeletal injury(MSI). METHODS: A convenience sampling method was used to select MSI patients as research subjects. Patients were randomly divided into control group(179 cases) and experimental group(188 cases). On the basis of the conventional comprehensive rehabilitation treatment, the control group received the routine occupational rehabilitation intervention, and the experimental group received the work intensive training intervention. The intervention period was 4 weeks in both groups. We used the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) Self-Rating Scale, the Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire(FABQ) and the General Self-efficacy Scale(GSES) to assess the recovery of MSI patients. The statuses of return to work of patients were followed up by telephone after six months of discharge from hospital. RESULTS: Compared with the same group before intervention, the scores of PTSD, FABQ-P and FABQ-W in the control group and the experimental group decreased, and the score of GSES increased(P<0.01). After the intervention, the scores of PTSD, FABQ-P and FABQ-W in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01), and the score of GSES was higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). The rate of returning to work in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(80.9% vs 59.2%, P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Work intensive training has curative effect on self-efficacy, physical activity, subjective pain, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and can improve the rate of resuming to work in patients with MSI.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the effects of suspension training along with chiropractic on degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis. Methods From June to December, 2016, 64 patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis were randomly divided into control group (n=32) and treatment group (n=32). The control group accepted McKenzie approach, lumbar traction and functional training, while the treatment group accepted suspension training and chiropractic, for 45 days. They were evaluated with Meyerding Rating, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) of pain and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) before and after treatment. Results The scores of Meyerding Rating, VAS and ODI improved in both groups after treatment (t>9.157, P<0.001), and improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (t>2.069, P<0.05). Conclusion Suspension training combining with chiropractic is safe and effective for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of the Shaofu zhuyu decoction on the changes of the body writhing behavior, inflammatory reaction and COX-2 expression of the rats with the primary dysmenorrhea. Methods Fifty SD female rats were randomly divided into blank control group, model control group, high, middle and low dose of Shaofu zhuyu decoction groups,10 in each group.Dysmenorrhea rat model was established by treating with estradiol benzoate and oxytocin.Effect of Shaofu zhuyu decoction of different doses on writhing behavior, changes of endometritis cells and COX-2 expression in uterine smooth muscle of dysmenorrhea rats were observed. Results In the model control group, latency of the body writhing behavior was shortened and the total score was high, many inflammatory cells (especially for neutrophils) infiltrated in endometrium and uterine smooth muscle, immunohistochemistry showed that brown granules were found in the cytoplasm of smooth muscle cells of uterus, and COX-2 expression was positive in uterine smooth muscle cells. As compared with the model control group, writhing latency increased, total score decreased in both the high and middle dose of Shaofu zhuyu decoction groups, and infiltration of a small number of inflammatory cells was seen in the endometrium and smooth muscle(P<0.01);COX-2 expression was decreased (P<0.01) especially for the high dose of Shaofu zhuyu decoction group. As compared with the model control group, the latency of the low dose of Shaofu zhuyu decoction group was significantly increased, and the total score was decreased(P<0.01),but there was no significant difference in inflammatory cell infiltration and COX-2 expression (P>0.05). Conclusion A potential mechanism by which Shaofu zhuyu decotion treats primary dysmenorrhea may be related with alleviating pain, inhibiting inflammatory responses, and down-regulating expression of COX-2.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between the calcium ion and the effects of ECA on the contraction of the smooth muscles of Oncomelania foot, and explore the mechanism of ECA in decreasing the snail climbing adhesion and increasing snail-killing. Method The in vitro experiment was used to observe the effects of ECA on contraction activities of foot smooth muscles of Oncomelania. Results ECA 5. 0, 10. 0, 20. 0 mg/L. enhanced the resting tension, decreased the contraction range and increased the contraction frequency of the foot smooth muscles of Oncomelania in Ringer's solution with or without Ca2+ , with a characteristic of the dose-dependent, but stronger in solution with Ca2+ than that in solution without Ca2+. Conclusions ECA can enhance the resting tension, decrease the contraction range and increase the contraction frequency of the foot smooth muscles of Oncomelania. This suggested that ECA could be related to increasing the intracellular Ca2+ release and influx of the extracellular Ca2+. This could provide an explanation why ECA decreases the rate of Oncomelania climbing adhesion and enhances snail-killing.

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the molluscicidal effects of Eomecon Chionantha Alkaloids (ECA) on Oncomelania hupensis. Methods By using immersion methods for different durations of time the molluscicidal effects of ECA and the rate of snails climbing-upward were observed. Results While the solution concentrations and temperatures of ECA were at 1.25 mg/L,30℃;2.5 mg/L,25℃;5 mg/L and 10 mg/L,25℃ respectively, and the snails were immersed for 72 hours, the mortality of Oncomelania snails were 100%. The hatching rates of Oncomelania eggs after immersed for 72 h in the solution of 5 mg/L were 0~10%. ECA showed an inhibiting effect on the snails' climbing-upward in the concentrations of 5 mg/L. Conclusion ECA has molluscicidal effect on Oncomelania and is one of the potential plant molluscicides.

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the acute toxicity of a plant-derived molluscicide Eomecon Chionantha Hance alkaloids ECA to fish. Methods The conventional tests of acute toxicity to fish were carried out at the laboratory. Results The Hypophthalmichthys molitrix mortality was zero under the concentration of 1. 25 mg/L for 96 hours, and 100% under the concentration of 20. 0 mg/ L. for 2 hours. LC50 of ECA to Hypophthalmichthys molitrix was 6. 457 mg/L for 2 h and the 95% confidence interval was 5. 289-7. 882 mg/L. The Cyprinus carpio mortality was zero under the con centration of 2. 5 mg/L for 96 hours, and 100% under the concentration of 20. 0 mg/L for 2 hours. LC50 of ECA to the Cyprinus carpio was 7. 244 mg/L for 2 hours and the 95% confidence interval was 5. 278-9. 954 mg/L. The Carassius auratus mortality was zero under the concentration of 1. 25 mg/L for 96 hours, and 100 % under the concentration of 20. 0 mg/L for 5 hours. LC50 of EGA to the Carassius auratus was 7. 080 mg/L for 5 hours and the 95% confidence interval was 5. 202 -9. 635 mg/L. Conclusion Toxicity of ECA to fish is lower than that of niclosamide. The EGA thus represents a promising plant-derived molluscicide which is worthy of further investigation.
